What a Kundli actually is
Your Kundli (janam kundli, or birth chart) records where the Sun, Moon, the five visible planets and the lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu stood at the exact moment and place of your birth. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac — the signs are measured against the fixed stars — so most people find their Vedic Sun sign is one sign behind the Western one.
The chart is divided into twelve houses (bhavas). Each house stands for an area of life: the 1st for the self and body, the 4th for home and mother, the 7th for marriage and partnership, the 10th for career and public standing, and so on. Which sign rises on the eastern horizon at birth — the Lagna or ascendant — decides how the houses fall, which is why the birth time matters so much.
What a proper Kundli analysis looks at
A careful reading does not stop at your Sun or Moon sign. It brings together several layers of the chart:
- Lagna (ascendant) and its lord — your basic nature and the lens through which the rest of the chart is read.
- Moon sign (rashi) and birth nakshatra — the emotional mind, and the starting point of the dasha system.
- The twelve houses and their lords — which areas of life are supported and which carry strain.
- Planetary dignity — whether a planet is exalted, in its own sign, debilitated or neutral, and whether it is retrograde.
- Divisional charts — the Navamsa (D9) for marriage and inner strength, the Dashamsa (D10) for career.
- Vimshottari dasha — the planetary periods and sub-periods that show when themes become active in your life.
Why the time and place of birth matter
The ascendant moves through all twelve signs in about a day — roughly one sign every two hours. A birth time that is off by even 15–20 minutes can move house cusps and shift divisional charts like the D9 and D10, which change faster than the main chart. The place of birth sets the latitude, longitude and local time zone used for the calculation.
If you do not know your birth time, a useful reading is still possible from planet signs, nakshatras, the Moon and the dashas — but the house-based conclusions become uncertain. A responsible report says so clearly instead of guessing.
How RashiKund prepares your analysis
Your chart is calculated with the Swiss Ephemeris — the astronomical standard used by professional astrology software — using sidereal signs with the Lahiri ayanamsha, whole-sign houses and the Vimshottari dasha. Your question is then read against those exact chart facts, and every report is checked so that no placement, date or yoga appears that your chart does not contain.
You receive a short, direct answer to your question with an honest strength level, the time periods that matter and whether they look favourable or challenging, practical guidance, and traditional remedies (mantra, daan, puja) chosen for the planets that need support in your chart. Reports are available in English, Hindi or Hinglish.
What astrology can — and cannot — tell you
Jyotish describes tendencies and timing. It can help you understand patterns, prepare for demanding periods and recognise supportive ones. It cannot promise an outcome, name a future spouse, or replace medical, legal or financial advice. Be cautious of anyone who guarantees results or uses fear to sell expensive remedies.
